About the Artists & Works

  • anivides is the interweaving experimental works of multidisciplinary artists Cristal Buemi and Francisca Duran focusing on analog and digital frame-by-frame approaches to showcase their abstract, study and practices. Exploring the idea of weight on our structures due to environments, experiences and their direct relations to trauma, healing and transformation. With a focus on collages of bodily works both in human and plant forms from a diasporic immigrant, bipoc, femme, queer and intergenerational perspective. anivides’ recent film diario de verano has screened at Dawson City Film Fest, Les Sommet Du Cinéma D’animation, Antimatter Media Art, Analogica, L’Alternativa and Moss Farm Film Invitational.

    “diario de verano” is an exploration of neighborhood flora in Tkaronto, focusing on Kensington Market, Parkdale and Wallace – Emmerson, areas we live and move through. Experimentation with abstract movement and the physical, compositional properties of foraged materials, strengthened our community/kinship to the land and each other. Artistic practices were explored and shared through gathering rituals, stop motion animation and phytograms, creating complex layers of ourselves intertwined through our latinx identities in this short film.

  • Carrie Sijia Wang is a socially-engaged artist and educator based in New York. Working with software, video, participatory experience, and performance, she creates digital fragments of reality that explore what it means to be human in a machine-coded world.

    Wang has presented work with venues including New Museum, Onassis Foundation, Rhizome, Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, ACM SIGGRAPH, and A.I.R.Gallery. Her work has been featured in publications such as the Business Insider, Slate, and Computerworld. Wang teaches as an adjunct at New York University. Additionally, she is the creator of Whose AI? — a series of hands-on workshops designed for underserved youth to explore AI and its social implications.

    Selected Work / 參展作品: A Hundred Lines of Nonsense

    “A Hundred Lines of Nonsense” is the result of a collaborative experiment with teens in NYC, this work offers a glitchy reflection on data, algorithms, and the endless production of AI slop.

    Working with the young participants’ anonymous chat histories, the artist used a Markov chain to generate new lines of text based on the probabilities in the original text. Each sentence begins with the seed word “ai,” forming a cryptic, chaotic, yet occasionally insightful snapshot of the teens’ thoughts on technology and society.

    The prediction model can generate content forever, but the further it goes, the more meaning dissolves.

  • Celestial Brizuela is an Argentine audiovisual artist and sculptor based in Mexico City. Her work focuses on the creation of poetic miniature worlds through techniques such as stop motion, live animation, models, and visual arts. Her work has been exhibited at festivals, museums, and galleries in Argentina, Mexico, Cuba, Portugal, England, Sweden, and Spain. Her recent projects include solo and group exhibitions such as "Exiled, We Will Return to Nectar" (Galería de Arte Mexicano, 2025), "It was a tree and it turned into a forest" (Museo del Chopo, 2025), and "Nobody Fits in Her Body" (CCEMX and Ambulante Festival, 2023-2024). She has also participated in Animasivo and the Waking Life Festival. She has received scholarships from the National Fund for the Arts, the Center for Artistic Research and Cultural Patronage, and has also held artist residencies in Portugal. His practice fuses the visual and the narrative with great aesthetic sensitivity.

    The Spirit of Matter is an animation inspired by the choreography of the Butho dance company Sankai Juku, and is a poetic look at the cycle of life and death, dawn and dusk, what opens and what closes.

  • cerradynho (1996) artist, curator, and cultural producer with degrees in Museology (University of Brasília) and Human Resources Management (Centro Universitário UDF). Born in Brasília and long based in Luziânia, Goiás, I identify as an artist of the center, integrating the nuances of this territory into my work. As a non-binary person, I reinvent my gender annually in a ritual of constant transformation.

    The video art experiments with creating the “perfect woman fruit,” paying tribute to the 2000s and early 2010s. It uses period-specific tools and editing techniques to evoke nostalgia for an era that shaped Brazilian pop culture. Celebrating the iconic “women fruits,” the work revisits a vibrant time that will never return, blending humor, sensuality, and kitsch. Part of the 2010 collection, it integrates a larger project dedicated to reviving the cultural references that marked my childhood and adolescence, transforming personal memories into a playful, collective celebration.

  • Cristián Tàpies (Santiago de Chile, 1975) Filmmaker and Visual Artist. His work is oriented towards a cinema that persists in rescuing the collective memory, through experimentation, the language of direct recording and the rescue of the diverse views of Latin America. His work focuses on highlighting social and environmental conflicts with a poetic perspective, using images to develop critical discourses on contemporary society. He has been a university professor at the School of Audiovisual Creation of the Universidad Austral in Valdivia, Chile, and currently he is Assistant Professor at the Seoul Institute of the Arts, South Korea.

    Megacities such as Seoul feel strangely alone. The seemingly lively exterior spaces become interiors dominated by screens and gadgets, and we move attached to gadgets through a maze of wagons, tunnels, and motorways, moving between seemingly open but ultimately closed universes. The aim of this fantasy is to forget the existence of a beyond, where the exteriority becomes distant, a blurred echo in the memory. However, moving within this kingdom of shadows does not remove the trace of imprisonment. As a result, life slips, imprisoned, in this game of light and shadow, in an area that appears to be an open sea but is, in reality, a maze with no way out.

  • Rios (Brooklyn, NY) is an artist and educator using electronics as a conduit for expression, education, and human connection. His work takes the form of musical instruments, installations, experiences, and reused / repurposed objects.

  • A neurodeviant, restless cross-disciplinary artist, she navigates the intersection of performance (art), dance, alternative image-making, printing, experimental film, and creative documentation. With a process-driven, hybrid, and rhizomatic approach, informed by feminist and queer lenses, she engages in a constant exploration of the body, performance, and the politics of the gaze. Her work challenges conventions, experimenting, embracing failure, and creating ephemeral images that disrupt, (un)tangle, and reimagine the familiar. Through documentation and the activation of archives, she transforms passive records into dynamic, evolving processes that intervene in and reshape each project. These practices offer alternative ways of imagining, remembering, and questioning. Focused on personal and collective memory, haptic visuality, intimacy, and the ethics of representation, she collaborates with others to explore and expand these concepts. Over the years, her work has been showcased at numerous international festivals and art platforms and received several awards.

    "Hold Me" -created with handmade printed frames assembled together- serves as a reminder of our inherent and basic need for interconnectedness. In times when division and individualism dominate, extending a hand to one another becomes an act of resilience and hope; a hope for a world where we can embrace each other with respect and care.

  • Frédéric Xavier Liver is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersections of effort, vulnerability, and transformation. Through video, performance, and physically engaged processes, he examines how learning and embodiment can become pathways to personal and collective reflection.

    His practice investigates the political dimensions of labor, the humility of time, and the role of apprenticeship—understood both as a form of transmission and as an act of resistance. Whether working with movement, sport, or rituals of repetition, Liver frames each gesture as a metaphor for resilience and human connection.

    Since graduating from the Brera Academy in Milan, he has developed large-scale visual series and collaborative performances that center on endurance and shared experience. Notable works include San Siro, a monumental painting series; Geometric Youth, involving a group of tattooed participants; and the film Les Quatre Mille Coups (2021), in which he attempts to master Maurice Béjart’s choreography for Boléro, confronting the vulnerability of learning through the body.

    In 2023, Liver launched It could have been… Gold, an ongoing video series that places encounters and apprenticeship at the heart of his research. His projects often unfold through travel, collaboration, and intimate exchanges—creating works rooted in lived experience, the act of doing with others, and the quiet, political power of persistence.

    Geometric Youth is an animated tattoo project by Frédéric Liver that re-imagines tattooing as a culturally significant art performance. Each event invites people to participate in a ritual that interweaves personal narrative with collective memory. During these events, volunteers receive tattoos that are used to create an animated video. As the tattoos are transformed into moving images, they transcend mere aesthetics and blossom into a dialogue rooted in culture and solidarity. At a time when tattoos often lack depth, Liver's work serves as a profound reminder of their power to connect us to forgotten histories and marginalised voices. Geometric Youth asks us to reconsider what it means to wear our stories on our skin.

  • jade wong (b. 1996) is an artist and filmmaker making with their hands, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and feet. They experiment with non-fiction, analog film, video, performance, craft, cooking, and sound. You can usually find them in a grocery store in their dreams and waking life. They are based in Seattle, Washington, USA.

  • Jun Shu is a Shanghai-based illustrator, animator, and interactive artist. She draws from small moments and quiet emotions, magnifying the genuine connections between people through warm, detailed visuals and engaging experiences.

    This animation evokes the delicate tension of Mahjong — the quiet pause before drawing, the breath held in suspense, the heartbeat pounding with uncertainty. Then, in a flash, the perfect tile appears, and the air bursts with the intoxicating thrill of a self-draw win.

  • Meg Cook is a multidisciplinary artist and stop-motion animator. Through the interplay of fibers and animation, she explores themes of identity, gender roles, and transformation, as well as investigates the hierarchy of art, craft, and entertainment. Ultimately, her work seeks to celebrate the shared language of textiles and animation: the ability to tell stories that are simultaneously tactile, visual, and deeply human.

    This stop-motion piece draws inspiration from textiles, translating woven patterns into animated movement. Using cut paper, I explore pattern, movement, and play, echoing the tactile qualities of textile-making. The animation unfolds like a living fabric—shapes shifting, interlocking, and unraveling in continuous transformation.

  • Nicola Fornoni (Brescia, Italy, 1990). Although suffering from severe Scleroderma since 2001, he incessantly produces performance works, live and for video, which are captivating for their symbolic imagery and visual impact. His poetics stems from a committed, sincere quest for connectivity and clusters themes of otherness, respect, union, inclusiveness and accessibility. His oeuvre results from a thoughtful process to counteract biases and stigmatisation about differences – real or imagined – presented as a negation of identity and, thus, a motive for potential discrimination.He exhibited and performed to New York, Berlin, London, Jakarta, Venice, Rome, Milan, Wien.

    An abandoned NATO base built during the Cold War on a mountain pass linking three valleys to each other in north Italy. Old business lines, passageways and other morphological peculiarities. Sound waves, cymbal vibrations.

    The story develops through symbols concerning identity, presence, existence and condition. Documentary scenes alternate with anatomical frames. Keeping direction straight on, the protagonist discovers new territories—nowhere is everywhere.

    He trespasses and tracks them down with his orthopaedic devices, migrating from a tunnel’s darkness to the light, like a miner who reaches the surface after spending endless moments in the depths of the earth.

  • Ping Ho is a Taiwanese artist and curator who blends the genres of images, sound, and objects to forge a unique intersection where mundaneness, nature, place, and time converge. By constantly entering and exiting different mediums, she explores themes of transition and migration through art-making, curation, and community-building. Her practice centers on creating inclusive, engaging, and accessible platforms for conversation and expression, often taking a site-responsive approach to activate unconventional spaces. Collaborating with performance and multidisciplinary artists, she challenges conventional viewing experiences. Additionally, she has a passion for archives and data composed of fleeting moments in life.

    Zhongxiao Fuxing to Daan Station

    Taipei, a place of ever-changing colors and shapes.

    Though it’s crowded and noisy, it has a personality all its own.

    Riding inside the MRT carriage feels like moving through stations of memories, slides, or even pieces of a collage.

    The MRT is the main means of transportation around Taipei, and by capturing glimpses from MRT rides, shifts in speed and time displacement are explored, creating a layered visual experience that recreates these memories and sounds. This invites the viewer to step into scenes that are anything but the ordinary journey from Zhongxiao Fuxing to Daan Station.

  • Rosa Prosser is an artist filmmaker from Cumbria, northern England. Her creative and research practice explores the entanglements of place, weather, history and fiction through an “elemental” lens - in particular, the wind. She graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA in the History and Philosophy of Science, going on to undertake an MFA in Creative Documentary by Practice within University College London (UCL) Public Anthropology Department. Her films have been shown internationally, including the Beijing International Short Film Festival, Jakarta International Documentary Experimental Film Festival, Athens Digital Arts Festival and the RAI Film Festival. She is currently a PhD candidate in Film and Visual Studies at Harvard University.

    Taking its form from both the train that we move on and the tentative sketch of a circular poem, Night Train moves us through the (re)imagined time and space of Hubei Province, China.

  • Born in 1991 in Ishikawa, Japan. Lives and works in Tokyo and Kanazawa. He completed his master’s degree at Tokyo University of Art, Department of Intermedia Art.

    Yamaguchi creates works that transform subtle gestures and everyday objects into poetic or political metaphors, revealing the social structures hidden in daily life. His creative process begins with research on urban contexts and history, and interviews with specific individuals, and extends across various media, including text, dance, video, installation, and performance.

    Yamaguchi has exhibited in Japan and internationally; including at: “Project to Support Emerging Media Arts Creators Presentation Exhibition” at the TODA HALL & CONFERENCE TOKYO, “Swept along, but not swept away” at the CourtyardHIROO (Tokyo), “CAF Contemporary Art Award Finalist Exhibition“ at the Daikanyama Hillside Forum (Tokyo), “A-TOM ART AWARD 2022 Vernacular and Dawn” at the CourtyardHIROO (Tokyo).

    Could it be that I am drawn to forests because, deep down, I yearn to wander and lose my way? However, when I heard that my Japanese friend had taken their own life while I was staying in France, I no longer knew which way to go. The following month, I performed an act of walking carefully along railway tracks I had stumbled upon in the forest, trying not to fall off.

  • Sharleen Smith is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores memory, identity, legacy, story-keeping, and the intersections of old and new technologies. Drawing on research as a foundation, she creates visual and narrative works that weave together found objects, digital media, and elements she calls “half-realisms,” where perception and emotion intertwine.

  • Shelia is a multimedia and visual designer based in Shanghai, with roots in traditional Chinese and ethnic minority cultures. Her work blends illustration, photography, and motion design to explore identity, mythology, and nature. Drawing from heritage while embracing global influences, she creates fluid visual narratives that move between the ancient and the contemporary.

    As China modernizes, traditional craftsmanship like the BaiNiaoYi (Hundred Bird Costume) risks losing its cultural and spiritual essence, becoming mere decoration. Raised in a family devoted to cultural preservation, I often ask: What defines heritage? What threatens it? How can I use art to tell these stories?

    This project reimagines Miao mythology through dynamic illustration, bringing to life the legends woven into the BaiNiaoYi. By visualizing its beauty and fragility, I aim to reconnect tradition, nature, and spirit in a way that resonates with today’s world.

  • Tianming Zhou (Alaric) works with lens-based media. He explores the within, the beyond, and the in-between of the landscapes, both physical and conceptual. His works have been showcased at Mimesis Documentary Festival, Experiments in Cinema, Non-Syntax, Leiden Shorts, etc. Tianming completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Hong Kong and earned an MFA from Duke University. He is also a recipient of the North Carolina Arts Council Artist Support Grant in 2024 and the Interbay Cinema Society Lightpress Grant in 2025.

    See You (Somewhere) showcases fragments of urban recollections that people, including me, fail to place in our mindscapes. These fragments are discrete, out-of-context, and removed from geological, chronological, and cultural frameworks. They shape our impressions of the living environment in the process of continuous displacement and fail to connect us to real memories. Eventually, they linger as pieces in between reality and fantasy, past and present, places and non-places.

  • Tina Willgren is a visual artist working primarily with digital techniques. She lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden, where she received her MFA at the Royal Institute of Art in 2005. In her videos and installations, she explores the mind and body in relation to the contemporary world.

    Recent activities include participation in “Brave New World”, Bienalsur, Macro - Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Rosario, Argentina and her solo exhibition “Ramblings” at Vestfold kunstsenter, Tönsberg, Norway. In 2022 she received a two-year work stipend from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee.

    An animated arrow collides with the edges of the screen, smearing and distorting the image beneath. Playing with the constraints of the digital frame, it activates pixels across the surface and reveals the borders as an active space rather than a passive boundary.The arrow is pushing against the screen as if trying to escape, while simultaneously painting a new image. In an era where content on screens structure our daily lives, Pointer makes visible the invisible borders that shape our interactions.

  • Wenwen Zhu is a Chicago-based animator and illustrator whose practice blends surrealism, wabi-sabi philosophy, and quiet storytelling. Working across 3D animation and drawing, she creates emotionally resonant images that invite contemplation through subtle gestures, atmospheric compositions, and metaphoric detail. Her practice explores the delicate relationship between the individual, society, and the natural world through a visual language rooted in ambiguity, restraint, and poetic metaphor. Embracing imperfection and open- endedness, her work foregrounds mood and intuition over exposition, crafting immersive worlds where meaning emerges gradually, rather than being directly stated.

    A body in transit drifts into sleep—time dilates, memory folds. In the liminal quiet of a moving vehicle, the self unravels, returning not to a place, but to a sensation. Childhood flickers not as an event, but as an atmosphere. This work asks: Can intimacy exist outside chronology? Is the body a vessel, or a sensor?

  • X&J (Xin Wen & JJ Agcaoili) is a Chinese American and Filipino artistic duo based in London. Their work indulges a deep curiosity in emerging technology and spatial psychology, and their implications on contemporary culture and the human body. 2023 marked the beginning of their award-winning practice in experimental film and interactive media, with exhibitions and public appearances in San Francisco, Bilbao, Linz, Singapore, Berlin, Milan, and London.

    Non-moment (2025) is a video art piece depicting the volumetric silhouette of a hand choreographed according to commonplace gestures of touch-screen interaction. It is a eulogy to the memories we will never make, eclipsed by the deluge of non-moments spent with our thumbs fixed on flat panels of light.

  • ZAUN creates interdisciplinary works, largely employing printmaking, collage, and drawings, based on grids. They consider the grid to be a visualization of logic, and apply a logical system to the practice of visual art. They studied at the College of Fine Arts, Seoul National University and graduated with honors in Philosophy from Alfred University, New York. ZAUN currently lives and works amongst New York City, USA, Seoul, KOR, and London, UK.

    One day, I was bored on a long subway ride, so I made up rules using dashes and dots to fill up the grid paper in my hand. My process is based on consistency, yet reveals contingency as the final result embraces a certain pattern of illogicality.

    《你在打砲,我在疊硬幣》將原作《蔣公銅像》的錄像行為濃縮為短影音,透過類直播的節奏與帶有情緒錯位的旁白,重構與威權符號的荒謬對話。藝術家一邊堆疊印有蔣中正頭像的十元硬幣,一邊錯過來電,彷彿在數位串流中建立自己的對位遊戲,讓歷史成為訊號,被不斷翻玩與拆解。
